Cardiac Imaging

Cardiac Imaging: ECHO: doppler detects pressure gradients, bubble study used to diagnose shunts, transesophagel echo used to detect atrial thrombus, valvular vegitations. Stress echo used to detect induced wall motion abnormalities in ischemic disease. NUCLEAR: detects ischemia, viability. ANGIOGRAPHY: widely used, especially in acutely symptomatic patients. CT/MRI roles poorly defined.
