Effect of providing free glasses on children's educational outcomes in China: cluster randomized controlled trial

this study found that providing free glasses to children with vision problems led to increased academic performance. Providing free glasses was superior to providing vouchers which was superior to doing nothing (the control group). The effect was small but appeared to be more important than parental education or wealth.  (BMJ. 2014; 349: g5740.)
