The association between different types of exercise and energy expenditure in young nonoverweight and overweight adults.

Although most exercise recommendations focus on aerobic exercise, nonweight-bearing exercises, such as resistance exercise and swimming, were found to be significantly related to total daily energy expenditure in overweight and obese adults. Encouraging these type of activities might prove valuable in increasing daily energy expenditure in this group.  (Appl Physiol Nutr Metab. 2014 Oct 29:1-7.)
